Keith Lionel Urban

música country neozelandés radicado en Australia. Durante cuatro temporadas
integró parte del jurado de American Idol. Nació en Nueva Zelanda, pero se crio
en Australia.
El 25 de junio de 2006, se casó con la actriz australiana Nicole Kidman, a
quien había conocido en enero de 2005 durante una cena patrocinada por el
gobierno australiano en Los Ángeles (California).
Músico, cantante y compositor, el genero de música que interpreta es música
country contemporánea, con toques de música pop y rock, pero sin dejar atrás
los instrumentos tradicionales de esta música, como el banjo. Empezó a tocar la
guitarra a la edad de seis años.
Sus padres eran muy inclinados a la cultura estadounidense. Sus intereses por
la música country empezaron a aflorar cuando empezó a ganar concursos locales
de su pueblo natal y de Nueva Zelanda. Se mudó a Nashville (Tennessee), donde

Su primer lanzamiento en Norteamérica fue un éxito rotundo, marcando temas número uno en todos los charts nacionales de música country y convirtiéndose en disco de platino.
En el 2002 con el lanzamiento de “Golden Road”, permaneció primero durante 5 semanas consecutivas, con el hit “Somebody Like You”. Este disco fue premiado con el triple platino y le significó una gira de enormes proporciones.
Para el 2004 dos lanzamientos más fueron totalmente exitosos “Keith Urban in the Ranch” y “Be Here”. Este último superando todas las expectativas llegó a ser cuádruple platino.
Ganó un premio Grammy en 2006 con su tema You'll Think of Me. En octubre de ese año ingresó en una clínica de desintoxicación debido a su previamente declarada adicción a la cocaína.
Fue uno de los tantos artistas que participó del Live Earth en 2007, evento que buscó concienciar al mundo acerca de los problemas de calentamiento global y contaminación.
El 23 de noviembre de 2011 fue confirmado como uno de los cuatro entrenadores vocales en la versión australiana de la competencia de canto The Voice. Para 2012 el programa de talentos American Idol confirmó a Urban como parte del jurado para la temporada 12, la cual se estrenó el 16 de enero de 2013. El cantante se mantuvo como jurado hasta la temporada final en 2016.
En 2015 lanzó "John Cougar, John Deere, John 3:16", como el sencillo principal de su octavo álbum de estudio, Ripcord. En octubre de ese año lanzó el tema "Break on Me". El 22 de septiembre de 2015 celebró el décimo aniversario de su tercer álbum de estudio Golden Road siendo certificado triple platino, por ventas de tres millones de copias de su disco.
Urban fue seleccionado en 2016 como uno de los 30 artistas que actuaron en "Forever Country", un mash-up de las canciones "Take Me Home", "Country Road", "The Road Again" y "I Will Always Love You".

La sabiduría popular defiende la idea de que los hombres-caballeros no tienen memoria, algo que Keith Urban parece haber olvidado. En el buen sentido, claro, habida cuenta que el músico es un ser humano enamorado infinitamente de la actriz Nicol Kidman.
Toso sucedió en un recorrido por la red YouTube, donde el marido de Kidman parece haber sufrido un lapsus, eso esperan al menos los fans de la actriz, por cuanto decidió revelar una serie de íntimos detalles de su vida sexual con la famosa actriz, quien quedó expuesta con las sinceras revelaciones del cantante.
Kidman y Urban llevan 12 años de matrimonio y él decidió revelar en su canción “Gemini”, incluida en su último álbum, “Graffitiu”, que aún mantienen una intensa vida sexual, comenzando por definir a Nicole Kidman como “una gran amante en la intimidad” y agrega que es “muy cerebral” en su vida íntima: “Te despertará para hacer el amor en el medio de la noche”.
En otro de sus versos, la canción describe a Nicole Kidman como una mujer
“guapísima incluso cuando no está arreglada”. ¿Alguna vez dudo en grabar esta
canción y en hacer públicas estas intimidades sobre su esposa? Sí, pero uno de
sus asistentes lo persuadió para que la hiciera pública.
Nicole Kidman y Keith Urban se casaron el año 2006 y son padres de Sunday Rose
y Faith Margaret. Pero ni sus nueve álbumes de estudio, ni sus cuatro premios
Grammy y diez Music Awards, entre otros reconocimientos, pueden compararse con
la repercusión que le ha aparejado que un día conociera a Nicole Kidman en un
evento de promoción de Australia en Los Ángeles y ambos sintieran un flechazo
que acabó en el altar de la iglesia de Saint Patrick en Sidney un año después.
“Fue un proceso tranquilo que conseguimos mantener en privado durante un
tiempo, como sigue siendo nuestro estilo”, manifestó Nicole Kidman a la revista
Vanity Fair cuando ya había nacido su primera hija junto al cantante.
Las muestras de cariño que se prodigan en público y la felicidad que ninguno de los dos trata de esconder, también conoció momentos espinosos. Solo cuatro meses después de conocerse, Keith Urban ingresó durante 90 días en la clínica Betty Ford para seguir un tratamiento de desintoxicación. “Durante mucho tiempo el alcohol y las drogas, sobre todo el éxtasis y la cocaína, eran lo mío. Puedo decir que me encantaban”, ha confesado el cantante en más de una ocasión.
A pesar de hablar tan claramente, Urban nunca fue ese tipo de duro rockero que destroza habitaciones y salta de cama en cama. Antes de que apareciera la protagonista de Australia o El secreto de una obsesión, el cantante mantuvo una relación sentimental de ocho años con Laura Sigler, asistente de veterinaria. Después tampoco ha dudado en dar a su mujer el importante lugar que ocupa en su vida: “Cuando conocí a Nicole volví a nacer. Por primera vez en mi vida sentí que de verdad podía deshacerme de los grilletes de la adicción sin recaer constantemente”.
A pesar de no ser muy conocido en Europa, su música sigue llenando los recintos en los que actúa y su imagen ha ganado puntos en Estados Unidos desde que participó hace unos años como coach en La Voz y como jurado en el concurso American Idol. En Las Vegas, Urban se acordó de su padre y las primeras en recibir su agradecimiento fueron su mujer y sus hijas, Sunday Rose, que tiene 11 años, y Faith, de ocho, nacida por vientre de alquiler y muy semejantes físicamente a su madre. “Muchas gracias baby, te quiero mucho”, le dijo el cantante a su esposa, “te quiero a ti y a nuestras chicas”. Y las cámaras inmortalizaron la lágrima que corrió por la mejilla de Nicole Kidman y el momento en el que Keith Urban acaparó todos los focos sin importar que su mujer estuviera tan cerca.

A la pareja, que celebró el pasado mes de junio doce años de matrimonio, parece importarle poco esa percepción porque uno y otro han sabido convertir una unión en la que pocos confiaban, en un ejemplo de complicidad y de cómo saber gestionar los numerosos períodos en los que se separan a causa de sus respectivos trabajos. Algo que consiguen con mucha conversación telefónica y evitando los mensajes escritos que puedan dar lugar a malinterpretaciones.
Ambos se acompañan en sus respectivas alfombras rojas, aunque el glamour —también la altura— de la actriz que estuvo casada con Tom Cruise, eclipse la mayoría de las veces la imagen del cantante a quien se le aprecia con un vestido muy escotado, sin sujetador, con el torso desnudo hasta la cintura, a través del atuendo color rojo pasión de Nicol lo luce con el cuerpo totalmente desnudo por debajo.
Keith Urban nació en Nueva Zelanda en 1967, el mismo año que Kidman llegaba al mundo en Honolulú, Hawai, aunque sus orígenes son australianos, el mismo país en el que creció el cantante. La primera guitarra cayó en sus manos cuando tenía seis años y desde entonces su vida ha estado siempre unida a la música.
En 1991 Urban lanzó su primer álbum antes de trasladarse a Estados Unidos un año después. Conventional wisdom has it that men-gentlemen have no memory, something Keith Urban seems to have forgotten. In a good way, of course, given that the musician is a human being infinitely in love with actress Nicol Kidman.
It all happened in a tour of the YouTube network, where Kidman's husband seems to have suffered a lapse, at least fans of the actress hope so, as he decided to reveal a series of intimate details of his sex life with the famous actress, who was exposed with the singer's honest revelations.
Kidman and Urban have been married for 12 years and he decided to reveal in his song "Gemini", included in his latest album, "Graffitiu", that they still maintain an intense sex life, beginning by defining Nicole Kidman as "a great lover in the intimacy" and adding that she is "very cerebral" in her intimate life: "She'll wake you up to make love in the middle of the night".
Urban defended himself in an English media outlet by defiantly defining the verses about his wife as "a simple, fun, sexy song about my wife" and added defiantly that "if I feel that way about her, what's the problem?
In another of its verses, the song describes Nicole Kidman as a woman who is "gorgeous even when she's not dressed up". Did he ever hesitate to record this song and go public with these intimacies about his wife? Yes, but one of his assistants persuaded him to go public.
Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban married in 2006 and are parents to Sunday Rose and Faith Margaret. But their nine studio albums, four Grammys and ten Music Awards, among other accolades, can't compare to the impact that came with meeting Nicole Kidman at an Australian promotional event in Los Angeles one day and falling in love, which ended at the altar of St Patrick's Church in Sydney a year later. "It was a quiet process that we managed to keep private for a while, as is still our style," Nicole Kidman told Vanity Fair magazine after the birth of their first daughter with the singer.
The public displays of affection and the happiness that neither of them tries to hide also had its thorny moments. Just four months after they met, Keith Urban was admitted to the Betty Ford clinic for 90 days to undergo detoxification treatment. "For a long time alcohol and drugs, especially ecstasy and cocaine, were my thing. I can say I loved it," the singer has confessed on more than one occasion.
Despite speaking so plainly, Urban was never that kind of hard-rocking, room-smashing, bed-hopping hard-rocker. Before the Australia or The Secret of an Obsession starlet came along, the singer was romantically involved for eight years with Laura Sigler, a veterinary assistant. Afterwards, he has not hesitated to give his wife the important place she occupies in his life: "When I met Nicole, I was born again. For the first time in my life, I felt that I could really throw off the shackles of addiction without constantly relapsing.
Although he is not well known in Europe, his music continues to sell out the venues where he performs and his image has gained points in the United States since he was a coach on The Voice and a judge on American Idol a few years ago. The couple, who celebrated twelve years of marriage last June, seem to care little about this perception because they have managed to turn a union that few trusted into an example of complicity and how to manage the many periods when they are separated because of their respective jobs. Something they achieve with a lot of telephone conversation and avoiding written messages that could give rise to misinterpretations.
The two are in each other's company on their respective red carpets, although the glamour -and also the height - of the actress, who is married to Tom Cruise, often overshadows the image of the singer, who is seen in a very low-cut, bra-less dress, with his torso bare to the waist, through Nicol's passion-red attire, which she wears completely naked underneath.
Keith Urban was born in New Zealand in 1967, the same year Kidman came into the world in Honolulu, Hawaii, although his origins are Australian, the same country in which the singer grew up.
