Aún sopla el “fulgor de la aurora” por las grietas milenarias de la ciudad minera. Una historia bordada en la plenitud arenosa del altiplano boliviano dejó escrita las estampas de un recorrido que enmarcó su ejemplar desarrollo, tras el flamear de la Tricolor Nacional en lo alto de la colina de Conchupata, donde fue levantado el histórico faro de la libertad.
La ciudad de hoy descansa en sus tradiciones y en la calidez de sus habitantes. Ciudad de temperaturas muy bajas, compensa el frío con el calor que irradian sus pobladores. La amistad se vuelca sobre cada uno de los turistas haciendo más llevadera su presencia en la capital del departamento.
El Carnaval de Oruro, afectado por la pandemia que tiene vigente a la mortal Covid 19, volverá a dar su luz. Clamamos a la Virgen del Socavón, para que participantes y público se cuiden del virus. Allí está el Chiru Chiru. No hay duda que en los socavones mineros se tejieron las historias más fantásticas y apasionantes de Oruro. La creencia en seres superiores, como el Tío de las minas, es algo que pervive en la gente del subsuelo y en la festividad del carnaval. Pero también está el misticismo llevado a la devoción por la joven Candelaria, así denominada por un franciscano.
Oruro de habitantes amigables, donde más de un visitante extranjero sintió agitado el corazón, y no por la altitud, sino por alguna muchacha de ojos oscuros. Oruro fue la primera ciudad que tuvo teléfonos automáticos, la primera en ser asfaltada en su totalidad, la primera en transporte ferroviario. Fue la primera en contar con un equipo de bomberos eslavos. Fue la primera. Su espectacular Carnaval, fue declarado por la UNESCO “Patrimonio Natural y Cultural de la Humanidad”.
Evocación y homenajes a la histórica gesta patriótica pusieron tinte a la celebración orureña el pasado 10 de febrero, llevando a los círculos sociales el perfil de una tierra apasionada por el trabajo y la fraternidad. Todo diálogo acercó la imagen de un pasado que aún vibra en el recuerdo humedecido de nostalgias de cada orureño, cuando ya los años vencieron dificultades y dejaron en su balance la sonrisa del haber cumplido la misión que le signó el destino.
Una es la perspectiva citadina y otra la característica de cada una de sus provincias: pueblos levantados en plena pampa, sujetos a ciertas circunstancias de vida adaptadas a una tierra hostil. Sin embargo, ellas ofrecen atractivos y productos de alto contenido alimenticio contribuyendo, así, a la economía de la región, además de despertar interés ilustrativo en quienes las visitan.
Pero no sólo esos productos de la tierra dan a Oruro una fisonomía muy particular, pues como región rica en minerales los productos no renovables han sido el sustento del país; las históricas minas de estaño y de otros minerales fueron por años razón de la existencia de una población ubicada entre las más selectas de la nación, llevando a la ciudad a ubicarse entre las más importantes del país.
Oruro, una tierra conservadora y amante de sus costumbres, ofrece al visitante, como entre sus atracciones, una gastronomía no fácil de ser encontrada en otras ciudades. Los platos criollos conocidos como Rostro Asado, Intendente, Cola, Nudos, Charquecan (valgan las mayúsculas de patentes para la creación doméstica orureña) van complementados por la Cerveza Huari, bebida infaltable en las recepciones de mantel largo y en todos los bares y restaurantes más selectos de la ciudad.
¡Oruro hermosa! con sus plazas y parques florecidos. Lugares embellecidos por aves del paraíso, cisnes y otros plumíferos que asoman en el Parque Castro de Padilla. La Plaza 10 de febrero, tan singular, con su fuente y sus fieras.
Oruro destaca una generación que podría ser la tercera, de mujeres que desde intelectuales, artistas y profesionales, hasta las pasarelas de la moda y la belleza, hoy en homenaje a esta tierra bendita, pongo de relieve los rostros de esta mujer que trabaja, representa y hace evidente lo grande que es Oruro.
La educación, desde las aulas del Colegio Anglo, el Colegio Saracho, el Colegio Bolívar, la Universidad Técnica de Oruro, y por otro lado el deporte, con su gran equipo San José, pone en alto a esta tierra enaltecida que vio nacer a mi Padre, que, con sus 90 años de vida, jamás olvida sus años primaverales.
“Qué daría por verte, hoy por tu plaza pasear. Arriba de aquel faro, con mi niñez soñar. Cómo poder decir que te olvidé, cómo poder matar este mi amor, cómo poder decir te quiero más, Oruro te quiero más.”
The "glow of dawn" still blows through the millenary cracks of the mining city. A history embroidered in the sandy fullness of the Bolivian altiplano has left written the images of a journey that framed its exemplary development, after the fluttering of the National Tricolour at the top of the Conchupata hill, where the historic lighthouse of freedom was erected.
Today's city rests on its traditions and the warmth of its inhabitants. A city of very low temperatures, it compensates for the cold with the warmth radiated by its inhabitants. Friendship is poured over each and every one of the tourists, making their presence in the capital of the department more bearable.
The Carnival of Oruro, affected by the pandemic that has the deadly Covid 19, will give its light again. We pray to the Virgen del Socavón, so that participants and the public take care of the virus. There is the Chiru Chiru. There is no doubt that the most fantastic and exciting stories of Oruro were woven in the mine shafts. The belief in superior beings, such as the Uncle of the mines, is something that lives on in the people of the underground and in the carnival festivities. But there is also the mysticism that leads to the devotion to the young Candelaria, so called by a Franciscan.
Oruro of friendly inhabitants, where more than one foreign visitor's heart was stirred, and not because of the altitude, but because of some dark-eyed girl. Oruro was the first city to have automatic telephones, the first to be completely asphalted, the first to have rail transport. It was the first to have a Slavic fire brigade. It was the first. Its spectacular Carnival was declared by UNESCO "Natural and Cultural Heritage of Humanity".
Evocation and tributes to the historic patriotic deed put a touch of colour to the Orurean celebration last February 10th, bringing to social circles the profile of a land passionate about work and fraternity. All dialogue brought closer the image of a past that still vibrates in the memory moistened with nostalgia of each orureño, when the years have already overcome difficulties and left in their balance the smile of having fulfilled the mission that destiny has given them.
One is the city perspective and the other the characteristic of each of its provinces: towns built in the middle of the pampa, subject to certain circumstances of life adapted to a hostile land. Nevertheless, they offer attractions and products with a high food content, thus contributing to the region's economy, as well as arousing the interest of those who visit them.
But it is not only these products of the land that give Oruro a very particular physiognomy, because as a region rich in minerals, non-renewable products have been the country's sustenance; the historic tin and other mineral mines were for years the reason for the existence of a population located among the most select in the nation, leading the city to be among the most important in the country.
Oruro, a conservative land and lover of its customs, offers the visitor, as one of its attractions, a gastronomy not easily found in other cities. The Creole dishes known as Rostro Asado, Intendente, Cola, Nudos, Charquecan (the capital letters of patents for the domestic creation of Oruro) are complemented by the Huari Beer, an infallible drink in the long tablecloth receptions and in all the most select bars and restaurants of the city.
Oruro beautiful! with its squares and parks in bloom. Places embellished by birds of paradise, swans and other feathered creatures that show up in the Castro de Padilla Park. The Plaza 10 de febrero, so unique, with its fountain and its wild beasts.
Oruro highlights a generation that could be the third, of women from intellectuals, artists and professionals, to the catwalks of fashion and beauty, today in homage to this blessed land, I highlight the faces of these women who work, represent and make evident how great Oruro is.
Education, from the classrooms of the Anglo School, the Saracho School, the Bolivar School, the Technical University of Oruro, and on the other hand sport, with its great San José team, puts this exalted land that saw the birth of my father, who, with his 90 years of life, never forgets his spring years.
"What I would give to see you, today, strolling through your square. On top of that lighthouse, to dream of my childhood. How can I say that I forgot you, how can I kill this love of mine, how can I say I love you more, Oruro I love you more".
